GET UP AND MOVE

The National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion reports childhood obesity rates have tripled in the past 30 years. The issue has reached epidemic proportions in the U.S. and TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Pasco/Tampa and all other Florida locations have joined together to do something about it.
Think about it … who better to get kids moving than a team dedicated to doing just that every day?
More than 20 TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations across Florida have joined together to create a new program called GET UP AND MOVE.
Each TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® location is looking to partner with a local elementary or middle school to introduce a new “Movers Club” program that stresses the importance of daily exercise. The “Movers Club” will ask students to “move” a minimum of 30 minutes a day by walking, running or biking. The goal is for hundreds of students across the state to collaborate and collectively “move” 300,000 miles in one month!
In addition to the “Movers Club” activities, kids are encouraged to bring new or gently used athletic equipment donations to Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Florida. The local moving company has set up boxes at participating schools and will pick up all items for delivery to Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the state.
This is the first year of the GET UP AND MOVE program, but we hope to make this an annual program with school partners across Florida.
Schools interested in joining the “Movers Club” can contact Emily Veltman at 616.233.0500 or eveltman@lambert-edwards.com.
Residents interested in donating athletic equipment to the local Boys & Girls Club can drop off donations at any TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® location in Florida.
